Exclamation Help. Betta with bad cut

I am not sure what happened, but my female, Lilo has what looks like a gash on her back. It wasn't there when I left for work at noon, but my daughter noticed it when she came home from school. Lilo is in a divided tank with another female. The divider has slats and although I find it unlikely if Lilo were too close and Poly turned the right way it could be a bite. I don't know what she could have caught herself on. Maybe her little cave, but I didn't think it is that rough.
Either way will it heal on its own? Is there anything I can add to the water to prevent any infection? I will try to post a picture, but my camera isn't very good with close ups.
Thanks.
Donna

Sorry this is late. How is she doing now? I think just keeping her in clean water will help her heal.

She is getting better. Her back is healing, I think she will be OK. She never lost any of her spunk or appetite so I didn't worry too much. I can't figure out where in her tank she might of cut herself. I think she got too close to the divider and Poly beat her up! Crazy fish!

Glad she is doing better :)

Which is good.. I so wanted to make a joke about Lilo and needing a Stitch, now I don't feel so bad since she is healing up :)

That would have been pretty funny. Lilo is named after the Disney character. Poly is short for Polynesian - one of my favourite Walt Disney World resorts.
