First water change after SICK FISH??

I did my first aquarium water change today, since its empty tight now and would need done in a few days anyway.

Dumped it out sprayed it out with the hottest water my kitchen sink has to offer. Cleaned the rocks, plants, changed the filter thingy, etc. refilled, treated with tetra betta safe.

Is there anything else I should do to make sure the aquarium is ok for other fish? I'm scared to stick another fish in the aquarium since Fishelstein was in there and we don't know why he is sick.

I have no idea what I am doing. No kidding. LOL

how big is it? If it's 10 gallon or better you could watch it for cycling before putting a fish in it. There's a nice write up at the top of this board about it. Other than that i can't think of much else to do. You did wipe it down with a clean sponge when you washed it right? That's pretty much all i do in that same situation and i've never had an aliment resurface in a tank i washed out like that.

Its a 5 gallon, filtered.

I didn't have a sponge, so I used a wad of new cotton balls. lol....

It should be okay then. Like i said you could watch it for cycle, or put a fish in with regular water changes.
