Question Fry count?

Every website that i visit researching Betta breeding says different amounts for how many fry can come from one spawn and i was wonderring how many are the least and most that the Betta breeders here have had from one spawn? And is there an average number? Thanks in advance :)

That's a hard question to answer. Some spawns you can get as few as 35, some as many as 300 IMO.

Many years ago when new variants haven't been created, I counted fully grown fighter and VT spawns randomly. Fry ranged from over 700 - 1300 with average of around 1000. Last year I counted fry from 3cm (BO) females which ave over 700 fry..... (it's close to impossible to count the eggs)

Out of all these fry only an average of 30% would survive to adult.... given proper care. Average hobbyists range between 100 - 300. Newbies often get as low as 10 - 20 fry which is a good manageable number. But some may also get hundreds as well.

The number of fry that makes it to adult really depends on (IMO) the age of breeding pair and fry care in general. I have never heard of young pairs producing fry over 300 to adult. Most usually ave between 100 - 200 to adult.

No one can really answer your question. You just have to prepare for about 100-200 fry.

It depends on fertility of the parents, whether they eat the eggs or not, if the fry get sick, water quality and temp.
You could end up with 0 or you could end up with upwards of 300 with so many variables.
I've heard Martinsmommy's fish are pretty fertile, if you're looking to buy a pair that will be likely to give you many healthy fry. She's also won many awards and sells the offspring of winners, or even winners themselves I believe.
