Have I been doing it all wrong????

Oh Lord..

So since I've had bettas, I've been using the filtered drinking water they sell in the big machines (you know the ones where you bring your own water jugs and fill them up in those machines outsides of stores?)

Well, I've been looking around online and apparently.. That's not good to use? I'm really worried and also a little sad considering it's a lot easier than using water conditioner on tap water.. Though I've never had any problems with it.. I've had all of my bettas since early summer '10.

So: Is it safe to use filtered water on bettas?

i seen on forums people using filtered water and said its fine but
you should be using water conditioner also even if it is filtered

u can use it but i would prefer tap water + conditioner

Tap water with conditioner would work just fine. Conditioner should be used regardless of what sort of water you're using. Not sure why you consider the filterd water easier. For my tanks, I just use a bucket for water changes. Clean water goes into the bucket, gets a splash (properly measured of course) of conditioner, and bam...into the tanks. A large bottle of conditioner would last you quite some time. It only takes a few drops.
