Shadow's.... interesting tail o_O

I know for a fact he is a VT, for two reasons... the way his fins drape/droop and this store sells only VT because this town is lame

But, here are some pictures of his interesting tail shape... it is symmetrical, perfectly smooth and not at all like a bite mark, fin rot, or anything o.o His fins are also pretty long - hopefully he DOESN'T start biting x.x so what exactly could have happened to have this very neat and tidy heart like end? also unlike my other VT males, the base does not taper... it's a straight line all the way to the double edge o.o

He is also, a very weak swimmer x.x I have to muffle the filter in the background but overall very healthy never got ich when he came home, he was in with..... platys? they stayed in the front and he sulked in the back on the bottom of the tank... I got him because he is very mellow :)

I have never seen such a thing...certainly is cool looking! I still think veils are one of the prettiest tail types. Don't get me wrong, I love HM's and such but something about veiltails is just so elegant.

I agree! My Spartan, Mister and Finicky all held their fins for show all the time... Never let them actually droop fully like some bettas... My Riddle doesn't have great fins, nor holds them well. But Shadow seems to try It is interesting looking! I've never come across this... Only double tails, which it doesn't actually fit into the DT description... Nor rose tail...

Lol but it's almost perfectly symmetrical... that's some symmetrical re-growth I know he's a veil. His tail is just...funny

I will say, he is a very mellow boy - very good for a community tank... Though I lack other fish than bettas

He's so cute! VT is dominant, right? Maybe VTxDoubleTail = some weird fry with dominant VT gene and weird double tail end? I wish I knew!

I'd love to see a picture with him in full flare.

He probably carries double tail if it's not from injury.
the amount of separation and how even it is varies from fish to fish.
His tail isn't really split enough to say that he is a double tail(selling wise).

Nope definitely not And yup VT A mellow big boy lol. He's a lot more wide than most of my other bettas....without being shrt bodied like lots of "meaty" bettas.

And trust me I have been trying hard to get him to flare, but when he did flare, he moved away before I clicked x.x -blurry picture- awww come on Shadow!
Guess his name suits him
