thats a little small to be dividing.

Anyhow is the divider solid or is it perforated. Is your tank filtered.

I guess its solid. Not sure what you mean by that haha no water can get through it although there is about a 1cm gap that water gets through, and no its not filtered, I do routine half water changes.

if you're going to, one should be okay, no more than one though and only a 25 watt, I have used these in a 1gal no problems

It's only $10 too.

I saw one made by Tetra that was 25W that ivwas looking at. I also have a 2 gallon tank with just 1 fish in it, how about for that?

You can use the tetras -- but it's at your own risk, for some people they work great and some terribly - it's hit and miss. And for the 2 gallon with one fish you can use the same one, use it for 1-5 gal tanks.

I have this heater, and it's worked perfectly for me. I had the same setup as the OP -- 2.5 gallon tank with solid divider, and this heater kept the whole tank at 80 degrees, with no variation, even on cold nights. I definitely recommend this one. :)
