i need help or else two bettas will be killed by serial betta killers!

I was at my friend's house
Looking at the bettas
they got when i got
old king colecanth,
when they told me that they kept them in
This wasn't declorinated tap water, either.
And the kept them in
I managed to give one of them a one gal
and get her to use bottled water,
i got her little sister to put him in a giant pretzel container,
and I managed to get her to use bottled water,
But he still looks really sick.
I tried to get her to at least let me take him for just a few days,
But she wouldn't let me!
I told her mom that the fish was dying,
But she said that all the bettas she's ever known
have been kept in plain tap water.
she also said that fish can't feel pain.
her e-mail is available to anybody who e-mails me at:
You have to have had atleast 100 posts here before i'll email it to you.
I want you to talk her into taking better care of him!

Maybe you should explain to these people why they are hurting their fish. And be a good friend, and buy them a small bottle of declorinater for their fish. Also, give them a link to the website and highly suggest that they look into some more tips on betta keeping.
If I got many emails from random people about being a bad fish keeper, well, I'd. crap a brick. Sorry, but true. I think there is a good way to going about this, but the way your suggesting doesn't seem like the best approach, sorry. But you are doing it for the right reason, good job :)

tap water is actually better than bottled. as long as they use a dechlorinator, tap water is best.

and, instead of saying 'you're killing the fish!', explain to them why it's harmful to keep them in such small tanks. show them this website, if you can. explain to the mother that they're living beings, and studies have shown that they CAN feel pain.

It's all in your approach, my friend. Instead of freaking out and saying they're killers, simply explain to them the needs of a betta. The best thing you can do is be calm and rational about it; if you jump in their accusing them of things, they're going to get defensive. Your friends seem to have been misinformed, and are acting on that misinformation. This does not mean they are bad people, by any stretch. It just means they don't know any better. Treat them like someone you want to help rather than enemies.

When ever I find my self in situations like this I always sandwich compliments with constructive criticism that way they feel like they are doing a good job while also learning about what they could do better! Maybe the next time you go over you can say "Those bettas are really pretty! But did you know that if you use this stuff called stress coat+ their colors will develop even more?" Make them think that buying it and using it is a fun idea and they might be more keen on trying it. :)
