You can clearly see from the wonky rays that he has had fin damage. That's just how it happened to re-grow. Fins don't always re-grow exactly how they were depending on level of damage, health of the fish, and the water quality while it was healing.

His tank looks really bare :-/

Yes, it is bare. I haven't been able to add plants. The live ones I wanted to add are in quarantine. and I also don't see what you mean by wonky rays o_O

He's actually the only one who hasn't minded a bare tank. >< He's been more active now, since being in the 10.

woops! sorry for double post. The site went wonky (background is white, not blue...and such...)

1f2f mentioned wonkey rays... I took it upon myself to point them out for you.
Circled in red, we can see were the re-grown rays haven't grown back as they should have. It's common for damaged fins to grow back differently than before. Fins are always the best the first time ;)

They aren't straight, ergo: wonky. There's been obvious damage. If he was a DT fused or even a DT geno (which I highly doubt) his rays would be straight.

People were just throwing out opinions... Never said he was a definite strain . And thank you, youlovegnats, for pointing it out. Even looking at Shiloh (as he ALWAYS flares but will not pause for a picture) I see how the edges turned out, because of his previous biting... He is now a VT disguised as a failed rose tail

And the damage must of been when he was at the (grr) breeder's place... He was in the store, same tail day of shipping too. Which I am not surprised because he is TOO MELLOW for his own good!! ><

They probably just wanted to make sure no one saw this thread and got in in their heads to try a VTxDT spawn on a whim. It did grow back pretty symmetrical, so it definitely still counts as an 'interesting tail' in my book.

yup And he is such a mellow boy =D I wish I could add him to a community tank (I don't have other fish but bettas though) 'cept I am sure his flowy droopy fins would be a target for ANY fish o.o;
and yeah VT is dominant DT, really isn't... I know that most would be VT, you'd be lucky to get a wonky DT/VT look in F1...but you'd have to breed on the line ><

There are such bettas as VTDT's. I believe Sweeda had one.

Yeah, VTDbTs are my favorite of the DbTs honestly. Though the others are growing on me!
