Question Priority or Express?

I was wondering, whenever you get betta's online, witch do you pick to have them sent to you? I know express is highly used, mostly because it is faster. But I was wondering if any of you have ever used Priority? And what the outcome of that was? Were the fish fine? Or was it a DOA? I know money is tight for a lot of people, such as myself, and cannot afford express at times. Any input would be lovely.

I personally wouldn't chance priority, but I'm also in Canada where the weather changes from one minute to the next and I would feed like crap if a Betta died because I didn't put the extra money out on Express. The way I see it... when buying fish online you need to be ready for all the costs that get them to you safely :) If I can't afford Express, I don't buy.

Oh yes, here in Kansas, it can be bright and sunny warm, then half an hour later, it's hailing golfball sized hail.

Haha, that's probably a good tactic. And with slower mail these days, you never know what could happen.

Hey, when I got my first male in the mail, our Post was on strike. I payed $50 to have him shipped by a bus, took 48h. Imagine if I sent by Post? He would have been there for over 2 weeks. Eeks! You could also see if anyone wanted to go in on an order, and split the shipping? I think most will ship 6 bettas in one box.

Oh my, that must have been a mess. I'm glad he got to you safely.
Quite true, however how would that work? If one person lives in California, and the other lives in Ohio, wouldn't that cost more?

I wish my Petco's were beautiful. That's why I was curious about online shipping.

I've never bought fish online, but I don't think I'd ever risk priority. It's just too big of a risk, and usually if it's a DOA most breeders won't give you a refund because you shipped priority. So when you think about it, express could potentially save you money.

My Petco has GORGEOUS fish.. The problem is it's the farthest pet store, so the best I get is Petsmart and Petsupermarket (who always have the worst!)

I just love king males so Petco has those <3 Lol.

I'm terrified of online shopping; paying $70 for a fish and opening the package and finding them dead ):
