I want to upgrade my 2 betta babies, Tai and Azure, to a 5 gal. that is divided. I have the 5 gal and I want to know if it's a good idea. They both live in seperate 1 gal tanks. It will have a heater, and a filter.
It's better than the 1 gallons, lol. More room, a filter, and a heater are always good. But I would recommend a divided 10 if you can. They will appreciate the space, and it gives you a bit more room to maneuver within each area.
I would think it would work just fine with a five, but I have only divided 10's, so maybe someone else could be of more help :)
I think having a divivded 5 gal tank for your two little bettas would be a good idea if you have a heater and filter. I personally have a divided tank for my little bettas and they love it!! I'm attaching a pic showing just the divider in my tank:) :
I personally put a NON see through divider in my tank because a friend of mine had a clear one and because the fish could constantly see eachother it stressed them both out which caused stress marks and agressive behaviour.
I have a 5 gallon divided with the clear plastic mesh. One of my boys was fine with it, but Norman (who's been pretty high-strung since I got him) didn't like having another fish in his territory and started tail biting. I had to move him out to his own tank, leaving Walter all by his lonesome again. Will find him another roomie after I get my newest addition (a betta I adopted who should be here next week) all settled in HIS new home.
I'm gonna have a wall of tanks by the time I'm through, LOL!
^ I agree. My boys really stopped caring after a while, even. Try a dark mesh and use two sheets of it, it helps. Also, if the filters are small and dont disturb the water too much, consider having both in there or at least the one, since the side without the heater will be way cooler than the one with.
