A betta in a 1 gallon tank will foul the water five times as fast as a 5 gallon.

Cycling is just a natural process of water detoxification.

Little princess be careful what fish you put with your betta, my bettas killed the tetras I tried with them the best so far is snails.

I I have 3 Bettas in 10 liters tanks which is equivalent to 2.64 gallons and they are very happy until i added tetras.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I just use common sense. I would think that more room means a happier betta;)

Yes, this is true for the most part. Many bettas do seem to prefer larger tanks with lots of swimming space, but I have heard of a few who've done better in smaller spaces. It's all trial and error until you find what works best for your fish.

I think it all depends on the personality of the fish, too. My 3 are all perfectly healthy in 1 gallon tanks, and couldn't be happier

Bettas will do well in larger tanks. I prefer a one gallon tank or larger.

Mythbuster: Do bettas really live in "tiny" puddles?

Just how tiny do they get in the dry season?
