I have been reading this forum for a while now. I have wanted to get a betta for a few months, after my niece sent me some marimo balls.
Even after reading here about different tanks and aquariums I just didn't listen to the advice. I ended up getting one of those small cubes that are advertised for bettas. I got the thing set up and prepped the water just like I was supposed to and put my little guy in there. He seemed pretty fine with everything, and was very active. The next morning I got up the water was cloudy and yellowy. It was also freezing cold.
Well, I went the same day and got me a 3 gallon tank with a filter. My little guy is now swimming around and seems very happy. I even got him a betta hammock and he really uses it!
This site has been very helpful and I'm glad I found it. Oh, I don't know what kind of betta he is. He's pretty, that's for sure. He's blue and red, but doesn't have very big fins. My avatar picture is the best photo of him I've been able to take. And his name is Jayne Cobb.
