Exclamation Help, Please! Drastic Color Changes!

So, Turbo has been in a quarantine/hospital tank for a while now. I was going to put him back into his ten-gallon today. I noticed he looked a little pale. Then, I filled the ten-gallon the rest of the way up.. And I acclimated him.. And I put him in.. And he seemed to be getting paler, and much more white. I fed him just before, so I tried not to be concerned that his belly was a little white-ish. Well, I thought he may have just been stressed from going back into the big tank. Then, he got even paler... Then, I saw red patches. So, I took him out of the tank and put him back in his hospital tank. I filled it up a little more with some dechlorinated water.. And I scooped some out and put even more dechlorinated water in it.. That seemed to help, and he has most of his color back, as of now. He's swimming around and pausing every now and then.. I suppose, I'll have to leave him in the hospital tank another night... <.> What's going on?!

The temperature stays around seventy-six. I just have my cell phone, and it's hard to see the discoloration. He's gotten most of his color back now, so it would be really hard to get a good picture of it. :(

:/ im not sure??? Is there enough coverage in the tank for him to have hiding spots? the temp is ok it could be a little warmer but its ok. Im still not sure about the red spots it could be just from stress.

The hospital tank was too small for any spots to hide in. =[ I even tried for like twenty or thirty minutes to get his little cave to fit in there. But it wouldn't.. Then, I tried putting him in the ten-gallon, and things really got bad. It doesn't have any cover in it, as of now. I need to put his stuff back in it that I had to remove when I transferred him to the hospital tank..

Ya i think that if he had really good hiding spots that he would be more stress free and happy! Good luck and i hope that Turbo gets better.

Thank you. So do I.. I guess, I'll just have to empty out the ten-gallon and float him in it in the hospital tank again.... I don't want him to get cold. =(

Well... I think it is stress of a large environment. It would be like having you in a small house, never outside, for most of your life, then sticking you out in a vast field. You wouldn't know what to do with yourself

What I could recommend, is have the 10 gallon full of gentle plants, hidey holes, etc, and only have it shallow. Add per week or so some more water, basically each water change. Stress coat, can also help... My El Dorado showed me, that when he was stressed his black mask (on his golden body) would fade away nearly completely. So I added more hiding spots, and plants.

I think that may be mostly what it is.. But he used to be in the ten-gallon. That was the tank he stayed in all of the time. Now, he's going back to it. And his color changes back to that creepy white-ish red-ish color whenever I mess with him now.. So, I put him in the hospital tank, "floating" in the ten-gallon, and I turned the light off, as not to stress him more.. Maybe he's just had lots of stress today..?
By the way, is El Dorado the fish in your avatar? He's sooo pretty. o.o
