Betta fish treats?

I would like to know if there's anything other than brine shrimp, regular flake/pellet food, and bloodworms that I can feed to my betta! Ex. Goldfish can eat frozen peas, spiders, flies, (human comsumption) shrimp, crab meat, chicken, etc. Anything like that?

Bettas will gladly consume live mosquito larvae. Just leave a bucket of water outside for a few days in the warmer months. You will have them.

I've also heard of people raising wingless fruit flies for them. Generally it's not a good idea to feed your fish the bugs that are flying around the house and yard because you never know what pesticides or other chemicals they may have come in contact with.

Thank you :) I'll have an easy time with the mosquito larvae, because there are always a couple of buckets near the garage catching rainwater under the eves. Now, how many larvae should an adult betta be fed?

My guess is the same rule applies to bloodworms as it does to mosquito larvae. 2-3 in a meal.
