Exclamation Betta flaring question!

I have had my Betta for a little over a week now, and I have not seen him flare once. My neice has a betta and he flares everytime someone walks up to his tank. Is this weird that mine never does?

have you tried putting a mirror in front of him? That is the #1 solution to see if a betta flares. If not, double-check 2-3 times and if still no, then wait till an expert replies. :)

mirror is suggested, like Starbetta said :) sometimes you will have bettas who just...don't care to flare. Then, there are ones like my friend's betta who took a few months before he'd flare - without being sick for those months. Some bettas flare all the time, some sometimes, some not at all ^.^

Maybe he's a lover, not a fighter. ;)

I actually have never seen my females flare. I think Madame flared twice, and that was when she was right down peeved. And my boy Jekyll is too mellow x.x

It's completely normal if your betta doesn't flare. My male never flared for months, not even at a mirror, and then once he flared at my pencil eraser. Now he always flares at the pencil eraser and whenever I get him and my female next to each other while they're in their cups, and sometimes at a mirror.

My female also always flares at the pencil eraser, but never at my male or a mirror. It just depends on your betta. (;
