Thinking about getting this tank...

Anyone have one?

I'm considering getting a betta smaragdina for it.

I've never used it but it looks nice. The only thing that bothers me is the lack of a lid.

we had a tank similar to this (the Fluval Chi) set up at my store that I work at and they put a betta in it. Within a week the poor thing had jumped out and no one noticed in time. If you can figure out how to fashion some sort of lid for safety then it is a really nice tank, but the open top scares me too. :/

I believe it says it comes with a glass lid. (;

I love the look of tanks like this. The only thing that keeps me away is the cost...and mom saying no more tanks! They look lovely with live plants.

It comes with a lid. The price is a bit high but it's a birthday present, hehe.

Definitely use gladwrap or cling wrap over any places the lid doesn't cover. Wild bettas jump a hundred times more through gaps a hundreds times smaller than any splenden will. I have lost at least 5-6 wilds through jumping even with a lid and cling wrap.

Also, wilds generally prefer naturally lit or dim tanks. Too bright a light tends to make them skittish and look washed out. Not sure how bright that light is, but just thought I'd let you know.

Oh okay. I looked quick (was at work) but didn't see anything about a lid. If it has a lid then I would think it's a great tank. Can't wait to see it if you get it!

I dont hate this tank at all. But for its price the Fluval Ebi is in my opinion a better buy. Or maybe the New Aqueon Evolve 8 gallon. Lots of very stylish & very nice nano tanks floating around 100 bucks to choose from. When faced witht he same question (it was someone else buying for me) I just got the Fluval Flora for Xmas.

@ bastage- I've considered the Fluval tanks. The problem is I'm limited on space and I don't think a 8 gallon tank will fit where I need to put it and I want something bigger then 2 gallons.

Thanks eveyone for your comments .
