Got a new 5 gallon tank 3 more live plants, a heater, and a filter. Cant figure out where to put my 4th live plant. Acclimating posiedon now, its kinda cute hes actually moving the trying to get out. Im going to try to upload a picture if my phone lets me today.

I wouldn't put anything else in a 5 gallon. Unless you are truly religious with your water changes..but even then its kinda iffy in my opinion. I usually aquascape my gallons as vibrantly and lushly as possible. This makes it look fuller and one betta is more than enough to please the eyes. If you absolutely want another fish...I'd say a lone Otoclincus. They are peaceful and clean the tank. They also stay rather small. I've had success with them and bettas. This was in a 10 gal tank though. It may overly stress both fish...the bettas will want to defend its territory but the oto will try to find a spot to hide...a gal is pretty limited in that department,You just dont want to overload the tank.

If the filter's pushing him down I'd suggest making a filter baffle for him, to slow the water flow so he doesn't get pushed around.

You can do that from a water bottle, or I think a small sponge in the filter would work too, but I'm not totally sure since I've never made one.

The only thing I'd put in there would be some red cherry shrimp or ghost shrimp. But:
1. He may decide to eat them, so they'd need hiding spots
2. They can be hard to keep. Some people manage others (me) have no luck with shrimp.
3. Ghost shrimp are sold as feeders, so are often handled roughly and not treated very well since they're expected to die, and are often pretty weak when you get them.

It could still be worth a shot, especially the red cherry shrimp, they'd look great on the dark gravel. :D
