Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? His fins have a reddish streak in them, and i noticed a few of his streamy strings had broken, a slight hint of black muck on the ends makes me think fin rot >.<
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? he's more energetic in his new tank. in his old .5 gal he would sit at the bottom of the tank kind of bored, but other times he would swim around in circles..
When did you start noticing the symptoms? in the last week the red appeared, but the broken fins i noticed this morning
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? i added two tablespoons of aquarium salt to his tank
Does your fish have any history of being ill? nope
How old is your fish (approximately)?Pet store fish, Ive only had him four months

Here is a photo:

If anybody has any ideas about what it could be, it would be great to hear it! Im worried it might be bacterial septicemia from not changing his water enough in his previous tank. =/

Now that he has moved in to a ten gallon, do his fins still look like they are ripping off? he might have been nipping at them because he was bored. I am not too sure about the 'muck' or the red steaks. sorry! Fin rot comes when water quality is poor so it could be a possibility.

Honestly, to me it appears that the red streak is just natural colour setting in. He has similar coloured sections on his body, so he could just be normal- bettas colours can change a lot through their lives, especially multicoloured bettas.
Broken fins could be from tail biting- make sure he has lot's of decor in his new home, it should help him be more distracted.
He's acting healthy from what you say, but I'd keep watching it anyways.
