New 55g tank suggestions and help.

i have a 55g tank i want to set up. i would love to be able to put a betta fish in it, but i dont quite know what else i could put into it.

my initial plan is a small grain gravel, almost sand, substrate with live plants. I want to use a wet/dry filter or canister filter. but am open to suggetions.

Before anyone wants to tell me the obvious. i will be doing a 60 cycle at least with some feeder fish, who will then feed some turtles.

You have all kinds of directions you can go with a 55gal tank especially with live plants.....

What kind of lights do you have and what kind of plants do you plan.....

I would recommend that you go to the pet shop that you plan to buy the livestock and look at what you like-write down the names and then research them to see if you can meet their needs....

If you wanted several bettas, a 55 would make for a brilliant sorority. :)

Alternatively, if you go for a single male, you have a lot of options. What sort of things are you looking for? Variety? Colour? Size? :)
