He changed in under an hour

My betta was swimming happily at 6 tonight and now all of a sudden, at 7:30 he is swimming sporadically, banging into things and his chin had turned gray with a hint of blue (before his head was solid black)
Does anybody know what's going on? I did a water change yesterday but none of the parameters have changed.
He is in a five gallon, heated, unfiltered bowl.
He's an aquamarine VT.
He is fed alternating three or four pellets a day.

What does his poop look like? How often does he poop?

Are you sure nothing got into the aquarium? No aerosols or anything.. closed top?

How much of a water change did you do? What is your routine weekly change schedule look like and if you didn't do 100% change have you tested the water?

Is his stomach bloated? If so he has bloat and you need to stop feeding him until it dies down. A picture would be helpful.

Sorry my pictures never show up when I post them.
He isn't bloated.
The water change was 100%.
I can't think of any aerosols which might have come in contact with his tank.
My weekly schedule is a 50% change on wed and a 100% on sun.
He gets 3 pellets one day and 4 the next.
His poop is light pinkish-brown, stringy and regular.

This probably wasn't helpful.

IM AT SUCH A LOSS! AHHHHHHHHH!

Stringy isn't ever regular.. but the color sounds okay at least.

The symptoms you are describing are either some kind of water parameter problem (which is why I wondered if he had an open top and something could have gotten in) or parasite infection. Also that chin/belly grey can be sign of internal infection or it can also just be an overall sign of stress.. so again could be either. Can you cup him in some clean water of the same temp and float him in the tank and see how he does? That would at least rule out water issues.. I use solo plastic clear cups. Work great:

it trikes me as a reaction to something as well(like something inthe water or a parasite).
Do what callistra suggested with the clean water and see if he calms down.

Don't have much more to add without pictures or knowing if the above helped.

How long did this weird behavior last? Did everything go back to normal after a few minutes? and his coloring went back to normal within half hour or so?

If it only lasted within minutes, it's probably something got in the water or something in the surrounding that spooked him greatly. There are usually two ways they will react to "threats", one is to play dead and the other is to try to get away from it by swimming erratically, stress line and turning pale can occur. I personally think it's nothing serious, but continue to keep an eye on him. Hope he is doing better today!

Cheers

I appreciate everybody's help.
I'm going to do the water change and see how that goes.
There is an open top on his home so it is a possibility.
He isn't behaving completely normal yet but I noticed his mood has improved overnight.
It could have been stress.
