Unhappy Betta Acting Weird.Help!

I just got a gorgeous new red betta 4 days ago. I got him from this really good fish store that treats the bettas great. So I came home from work today and he's like doing flips and can't swim straight, its kinda like he's drunk. I not sure what do about it, please help!

Is he having trouble leave the surface of the water?
It sounds like he has swim bladder disease

Swim Bladder Disease (SBD)/Bloat
•Symptoms: Betta has trouble swimming, maybe he can’t stay upright and can only swim on his side.
•Treatment: This is not a contagious or fatal illness. If it isn’t congenital (aka a condition that he/she has had since birth), then it is caused by over feeding or feeding the wrong foods. Bettas will typically recover after a day or two of Epsom Salt treatments (1-2tsp/gal) and fasting. You can help prevent a reoccurrence by switching to a better pellet food, feeding less and offering a more varied diet. To make it easier for the betta to eat and breath, you can make the water shallower. You can offer him/her frozen daphnia (sold at Petsmart) as daphnia will help him/her pass stool. DO NOT FEED THEM PEAS.

PLEASE fill this out fully so we can best help and confirm!

How long has he been doing this?

Is his stomach bloated?

How did you transition him to the new water?

Can you post pictures?

It sounds like it is an issue with his swim bladder, with a 2.5 gallon uncycled tank, you need to do at least 2 water changes a week, one 50% water change, and one 100% water change

To treat for swim bladder, clean his tank out and add new conditioned water... also add 1 tsp of espom salt per gallon (2 tsps should do fine) for now, you will need to increase water changes, 100% water changes everyday or every other day is best, make sure to let him sit and acclimate to the temperature and then transition him to the new water carefully, after one week, stop treatment.... if he seems to get better after 2 days or something... do not stop unt"il a FULL 7 days have passed, also, check his poop for parasites, "normal poop should look nice brown and even, poop with parasites will usually be "rough shaped or small and round" and is usually black or gray, treat with parasite medication if you see that (I use Jungle)

LittleBettas is right. It does sound like SBD. you should treat him with antibiotics. Also be sure to keep the water clean and at a steady tempeture. SBD also pops up when he is roughly handled. I hope your betta gets well soon!
