Will this repair itself?

Norman used to be in a divided tank with Walter, but he couldn't stand being able to see another fish's shadow through the divider, and chewed his fins down to nubs. They're starting to grow back, as you can see:



...but I'm wondering about the top/front ray on his dorsal fin. It's hard to see from the photos (Norman NEVER stops moving, so it's hard to get clear shots of him), but there are two kinks in it, one close to his body and one closer to the end. It's circled here:



Will that repair itself as the fin grows back, or did Norman permanently mutilate himself? Not that I really mind either way; he's a spaz but I love him anyway. Just curious if it will heal normally.

(P.S. Norman doesn't have ich, I swear. I just need to clean the front of my tank. ;)

it may not heal 100% to what it was before. the tail regrowth can go wonky, i have 2 that have wonky regrowth. yours will regrow but dont be surprised if the regrowth will be an uneven surface on some areas.

Yeah, I wondered how his fins would regrow, anyway, since he bit them down so far. He really had them chopped. :-/

not a problem, the colour may take some time go go back. the fins will be wonky directly after the bitten areas but the parts after would be better. sometimes the outer rays will merge. ie there are 4 rays worth eaten. the center rays wont regrow, the outer ones will merge together.
