Question Filter for divided 10 gallon?

I plan to put my bettas in divided 10 gallons. Do I need a filter for this? I don't plan to drill holes in the dividers, so do I put filters on both sides? If so what is a good filter for 5 gallons? Thanks!

A filter would be a good idea, it'd definitely benefit your bettas! And since there's no water flow between the two sections, you would need to get 2 filters, one for each side.

Are you bothered by noise at all? If bubbling sounds don't bother you, you might consider putting a box filter or sponge filter in each side. You can use a gang valve to hook up both filters to one air pump. But again, the only drawback is the bubbling can get loud.

Otherwise, good 5g filters would be internal filters like the Marineland Duetto 50 or the Marina Internal Filter. The Hagen Elite filter is a good tiny filter too but it's only rated to filter up to 3g.

Tetra makes a good filter that hang on the inside of the tank. Here it is... http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...028&lmdn=Brand I have one of these that has lasted 10 years. Something I just did with mine is remove the carbon that comes in the cartredge (VERY EASY), and put some biomedia in it. Works great, and you can adjust the noise level on it. (Higher water = less noise. You can even make it completely silent, which is handy if tank is in bedroom). I have 2 of these. I used to run both of them on my 10g betta tank until I took the tank down (today). Definetly great filterts. SUPPER EASY to use. Just plug it in and it works.
