Question Light for 10 gallon with no hood?

I plan to house my bettas in divided 10 gallon tanks, but the ones at WalMart don't come with a hood. I've got heating and dividers figured out, but what can I use for lighting? The lid will just be a wire mesh lid typically used for reptiles, that I plan to put plastic wrap or plexiglass partially over to keep air circulation going, but to keep heat in. So what can I use as a light source? I've heard things like light strips, but what would you suggest?

Actually, if you go to Ace hardware, they will cut you a peice of glass or fiberglass to the size you need, cheap. As for lights, probably something like this

This is perfect! Although expensive. I'll check amazon or ebay for this to see if I can get it at a lower price, but I love it, and it is exactly what I think I need!

You could also probably use a desk lamp (so long as it's tall enough). Architect's lamps are really nice for this, I think, and you can get inexpensive ones at Wal-Mart even.

I've actually just found the perfect alternative. PetsMart sells a 10 gallon with hood and light for around $30. So in the end I spend less than it would take to renovate the Walmart take to my liking, and it's way less work. Yay! Happy medium achieved!
