Zilla reptile substrate

Can zilla brand reptile "sand" be used as a substrate for A 10 gal tank? I looked at it and it is just grounded up walnuts, is it safe?

I haven't found any information one way or the other but I personally wouldn't use it. It's not intended to be completely submerged. If I recall when I used Zilla substrate for my bearded dragon it would clump together any time it got wet to make sifting waste out easier. I think that would not do well in an aquarium.

I wouldn't recommend using it since it may contain Juglone- it is a poison that is found in black walnut hulls and bark that is highly toxic to fish.
