Bubble Nest Question

If my betta never makes bubble nests, then does this mean he isnt content? He's very active and seems healthy, but is it normal that he never makes bubble nests?

well, in my experience i don't think it means there's something wrong. the male i've had the longest has never made a bubble nest. the one i've had for maybe 3 weeks ALWAYS makes bubble nests. and they're in the same tank. but the one who hasn't is always more interested in getting my attention and showing off.

is there a filter in the tank? the movement of the water may keep him from not wanting to.

Hello fishies,

Bettas make and/or do not make nests for various reasons. I have seen sick bettas make nests and healthy bettas who do not.

Some bettas require something to help them start. For example, one of my males only builds nests in a tank that has floating plants, because he builds nests under them. However my other betta will build nests only after he has had a flaring exercise session with a mirror or another one of my boys (or girls). Others are too young or too old (or too lazy) to build nests.

Nesting is NOT a definitive sign of good health and overall happiness, but it is a good indicator that they are.

Agrees with Bahamut. The definitive sign from the bubble nests is the happiness of the betta keeper

Agree on the water movement deflect it to reduce current might result in your Betta Bubble Nesting, but sure they vary for each fish, if he's active and seems happy dont worry.
