Gravel Cleaner

I have a 5gal divided tank and I got this gravel cleaner that is perfect in length- except for the head of it. I was wondering if the effect of the gravel cleaner would change if I cut the head of it down to size.

I wouldn't think so... But you can look at it online and read the reviews and see if any others have done it... My filter isn't using all of the pieces it came wit and it works good....

It's okay, I've done that before. Nothing bad happens.

I've been wanting to try this but was worried about loss of suction.

I actually changed the hose from 3/8" down to 1/4" on mine because it would drain the water in the tank faster than I could vacuum. But cutting the overall length down shouldn't be a problem at all.

If you cut the head shorter (the larger plastic tube) the only effect that it will have is that the suction will increase slightly, so to speak that is. The overall siphon suction will be the same, but the suction at the point of the gravel will feel stronger. I actually use just the hose without the head for my little tanks. I have sand so it works better to just use the hose and hover over the surface.
