I just put in my bettas, Tai and Azure in their divided 5gal. They both aren't flaring at eachother... But at their sides of the tank! Tai has the side with the filter on it and Azure has the heater side. I just dunno what is causing them to flare!
It's rpobably their reflexion on the glass wall.
Is the light in the tank on? Try turning on the light in your room while their light is on, it will reduce the glare. If you don't have natural plants, turn the light on only when necessary.
