Red face Jaxon's gotten a little attached to his baffle. X)

So I originally made the baffle for the filter. But even with the baffle on, the current was still a bit strong. Especially since it's only a 3.5 gallon. X) But I couldn't bring myself to take the filter out because, well, Jaxon seems to like it!

He rubs up against it and loves to hide in it. It provides the perfect resting spot for him just underneath the surface. Just when I start to get super frustrated with him (because he doesn't eat his food and I have to dig the tiny pellets out of the gravel and chase them out of the tank) he pulls something like this and I can't help but find him really stinking cute.

awwww so cute! I think I'm gonna have to baffle my tank, when I bought my five gallon starter kit today I was not expecting a MASSIVE external power filter
What a pretty fish, where did you buy him?

LOL my boy Cornelius loves his water bottle baffle too. His has a sponge shoved in there now though because while he likes the plastic, he hates the filter current. He's a wierdy!

I don't even have mine turned on anymore. I'm waiting to get a sponge filter hopefully. But I left it in anyways because Jaxon seemed to like it so much. X)
And thank you!! :) I actually got him at petsmart. He looked like blueish in the little cup of blue water, but when I moved him to his tank he was this deep red. I've actually been pretty impressed with the quality of the fish at my local petsmart. They seem to be in good condition:)

It's so funny that they love the plastic. You'd think it would be, idk foreign and toxic or something. But Jaxon warmed right up to it! And I like the sponge idea, I might try it until I invest in a more betta-friendly filter:)

sponge filters are a wayyyyy better choice in my opinion. my boys were tearing their fins apart bc of filters being to harsh whether I baffled them or not.. now with the change in filtration, their fins are growing back and they're building bubble nests!
