Fins growing back clear

so my VT Whiskey is starting to grow back his fin from when he bit his tail off a month or so ago. >:( Now he's just a white metalic, but i'm curious. The tail fin parts that are growing back, are growing in clear. It's not really worrisome, because I think it looks beautiful (Makes him look like a butterfly) but i'm curious as to why they are growing back clear.

They grow back clear, then they eventually get their color.

Its not uncommon for the new growth to be clear or white or even a different color all together....depending on the amount of damage and a few other factors....the new growth may or may not color up...often with really bad damage the fins never return to their full glory....
