I was recommended to use aquarium salt for the rotten egg smell..

Before I do this I want your guys' opinions.

The rotten egg smell is still here despite removing the sand completely and adding a filter to the tank.

What do you use as your water conditioner? I love my Seachem Prime, but it doesn't smell great out of the bottle. I'm not sure what causes Prime to smell like eggs, but it does. I've never had a problem in a tank setting though-- maybe an overdose? The stuff is potent.

Perhaps something going on, least use a hot water rinse on the tank, may give your step by step procedure as on water changes. Even possible for a liquid conditioner to go bad as the bottle develops air space. Have dechlorine dry tablets could be an answer. Anything recently added is suspect. Containers used too long aging water, lots of possibilities. Rinse with hot water everything or replace. Good Luck.

Does the aquarium have a heater? When I set up an aquarium a long time ago the heater was faulty and left the water rank. Also, do you have any live plants in there? I find I get a horrible stench if plants go bad while in the water.
