Why not earthworms?

Wouldn't earthworms (freshwater fishing bait) be a good laxative for constipated bettas? I cannot find any daphnia and epsolms hasn't done much good.

I came across this question somewhere else and feeding earthworms was recommended with a caveat. If memory serves you're supposed to rinse them outside then purge them inside by sticking them in an oatmeal container for a few days. Chop them into edible pieces, freeze the rest for later.

Note: To be 100% clear on the matter, I am not speaking from experience but rather from recollection of a piece of advice I read online. Proceed with the necessary caution!
