Question What do these terms mean?

Hi, does anyone here know what is meant by either one of these terms?

Apache

Salamander

I have seen a couple of fish labeled as that on AB but cant figure out what traits make them be called that. I've looked in the color/form sticky and didn't see them there. If anyone knows what they mean please share, it has been bugging me for a while, lol

In my area "apache" is a minimum of 3 colored multi. Red is one of the color, but I'm not sure about the other two (I think there was white, black and blue too - the one I saw had 4 colors), nor am I sure about the pattern (I was never interested in them).

Salamander is of red-blueish (not red-blue multi). Sometimes their pattern look like cambodian..... in my area a salamander line that produced cambodian like colors and pattern will often be called salamander.... hard to explain. I'll try to find some pictures for you.

Apache is a strain develouped by Bettatalk. Only though bought from her should be called Apache's.Other are people trying to attach her name to sell their bettas(which she expressly says not to do on her website).

Salamander was another strain name, but now has come to be used to describe a red with blue iridescence(so it looks purple) that has a small band of white butterfy around the fins.
There is also a yellow salamander.

I can get pictures of both in one moment

Thanks for clarifying.

The "apache" is very different to what I had in mind. Though it's rather vague (last I saw as in 2005) but it was definitely a multi color.

Edit:
"The ideal Apache male has a red/white BF pattern and a piebald face with bright red body and remain (to me) a DT." (by Faith)
Maybe this was why the one I saw was called an apache.

That's the first yellow salamander I've seen. I know a lot of local breeders are trying to get the MG's fin affect on many base colors. But I haven't seen any successful salamander-yellow ... until now.

Indjo: Probably. people like to pick one aspect and then use the name.

Ale- Glad you got some answers. Best of luck with any other questions.
