White powder all over the tank?

While posting this I am also googling to see if I can find answers but..what the heck is this stuff? I have not even added anything other than water clear to my tank. This morning all I did was feed Dahvie and he ate all of his pellets and I come home to find this water powder all over my tank!

The filter I am using is:

The heater is:

Yes I rinsed everything before putting it in the tank.

I used this water clear

Here are pictures of the powder

That IS strange. My best guess is it came from the tablets. Some water clarifiers actually make the water cloudier for a short time as they break down and bond with smaller particles. I know Seachem Clarity does this but I'm not familiar with the type of clarifier you used. If it continues to be a problem, I'd suggest doing a water change and not adding any more tablets.

So it only took a few hours to happen? I had something similar in my tank, but it didn't have anything in it and sat for a long time. I would have guessed stagnant water, but if it happened quick I can't even guess as to what that is.

Well we found the solution! Either it was the tablets or the filter because it SEEMS to be clearing up now. My co-worker told me to try rinsing the filter cartridge and dabbing it with paper towels for a while and so I did. Now the water seems to be clearing

I'm thinking more towards the tablets because it's strange to me that this didn't happen until I put the tablet in. But at least I know it will go away

Why did you need to clarify the water? Was it cloudy before you put the tablets in?

Ah. That's interesting your tap water is always cloudy. Do you use a filter in your tank? If you do, carbon inserts will help with the cloudiness. Good luck with your water. :)
