I'd say anubias too, but, mine recently started rotting. They've been great for almost 6 months then suddenly fell apart. *shrugs* I now like anacharis, I just put a few bunches in Mr. Bubbles tank and he's barely come out of the large glob of them! They're really easy too.
Also, QT is really important. I learned that the hard way. 1 week will do :)
Have fun!! :D

Well, I had gotten him an anubias. I forgot to get something to tether it to though. What kinds of things can I tie it down to? What should I use to tie it down?

Tie it to stone or bogwood, using a rubber band or fishing line. Or let it float.

Any kind of stone?
I didn't know I could use a rubber band. >> I tried letting it float, but the filter and Hannibal kept moving it about and getting it too close to his heater.

I'd get a stone from the pet store, it just needs rinsing off, anything you find outside or at a hardware store could have parasites or pesticides or something.

Lava rock is good.

We have stray/outdoor cats around here, so I definitely wouldn't use one from outside. I'll make sure to get some lava rocks on our next outing. ^_^

Thank you very much for the help.

No problem. Also, lava rock has tons of holes, nice little hidey places for the good bacteria to live and help your tank!

That will be very helpful in the sorority I'm setting up! ^_^ Not sure how Hannibal is going to take his tank being messed with some more, but he'll hopefully enjoy it all in the end.

My anubias is just rooted in the tank sand; they are fine as long as rhizome is above the sand/gravel. I have a bunch of java fern too, but it always seems to float off unless I tie it down with string.

be carefully with lava rock, it could tear your bettas fins. It is SUPER sharp. I went to a regional park and found some cool stones, I don't plan on tying anything to them but they work fine.

Java moss, java fern, and anubias are all plants that require no special lighting.
