Question Is this FIN ROT????!!

Hello,
I've noticed lately my betta fins seem kind of strange lately. First he had a small hole, I do have a plastic plant and figured maybe it was from that. Now I've noticed a rip in his top fin all the way to his body! Also, not sure about the edges of his fins.... Can someone view these pictures and give me your best opinion. Does he need treatment for his fins or were they just probably damaged by the plant and he should be fine? I want him to be ok. I will change the plant asap!! Thanks!
**See the 3 attached pictures of him.....

Yea that's fin rot. Have your water tested and change it often. luckily it is a minor case.

I actually just removed the plant and found a small piece of his fin stuck in it. That means the plastic plant DID indeed tear his fin!! Will it heal or does he need treatment? If he needs treatment what do you recommend? Thank you!

Its hard to tell if its rot or not since the pic are pretty dark...the the fin edges should look discolored, crusty and tattered generally....

We need more info...complete this and add to your post...

Sometimes the filter can be a cause of fin damage in smaller tanks-especially with the long fin males....

Good that you removed the plastic plants....

The nitrite at 0.5ppm is not good....are you using test strips.....just nitrate in the source water....

I would get on a regular schedule of twice weekly 50% in a filtered 1.5gal tank...1-50% water only and 1-50% to include the substrate

If the fin tips look discolored, tattered and crusty-I would use a QT to treat...this will at least help rule out the filter as a cause.
