Thumbs up 10g with 1 lone betta

What would be the best fish to house with a Betta fish?

10g Tank, fairly empty right now with only 2 caves but getting plants and what not in the near future.

If you could include a picture of the fish with your post that would be cool too haha.

NO SNAILS lol too messy... Ive had my fill of Snail poop.

6-8 cardinal tetras, and NO crayfish as they will murder a betta

I wouldn't go cardinals in a ten gallon - they are a bit bigger than neons and really need at least a 15 long.

Some good fish include:
- ember tetras: http://www.seriouslyfish.com/profile...amandae&id=462
- pygmy cories: http://www.seriouslyfish.com/profile...ygmaeus&id=333
- neon tetra (I personally wouldn't have them in less than a 15, though) http://www.seriouslyfish.com/profile...s=innesi&id=93
- Mosquito rasbora (can be pretty delicate, though) http://www.seriouslyfish.com/profile...igittae&id=772
- panda cory: http://www.seriouslyfish.com/profile...s=panda&id=301

And I forgot Endlers: http://www.seriouslyfish.com/profile...=wingei&id=139. They are much brighter than shown in that picture.

The Endlers are cute... How many would I need to get if I were to go that route?

You could easily have 5-6 in there but 2-3 as a minimum

I would have RummyNose Tetras, they like warmer water than the neons and they're so cute :) i have both and even though i rarely see my neons, the RUmmyNoses are always up the front of the tank and they're more peaceful :) My female, who is pretty aggressive, leaves them alone completely and they stay out of her way :D I highly recommend them :D

A 10 gallon is too small for most tetras. They need to be kept in schools of about 5 or more, and they need a lot of space. Most keepers prefer a 20g + for tetras. AND tetras can be very nippy! I'm speaking from experience. I have a 10 gallon tank with platys and guppies. Before the guppies, I had 2 White-Skirt tetras , and they nearly killed one of my platys. They picked on only one fish, and tore her to bits. I had to sell them back to the pet store. :\

DormFish, that was probably because you only had two. :) But +1 to most tetras needing a 20 gallon. They are active critters and need the extra space to zip around in. Some are also quite sensitive to water conditions, and the extra water volume is a bit of a safety buffer.
