My betta has popeye, and has had it for a few months. Weíve tried a few different treatments, but nothing has worked. Now, part of his underside is bloated. It looks too far forward to be his belly, I don't know, itís right behind his head. It's not constipation, he's pooping just fine. I have no idea whatís going on. Help please? Iím getting so desperate.
I keep him in a one-gallon tank (yes, yes, I know it should be bigger, but that's not really possible in my situation). It has a filter, but I only have the pump running right now, without the carbon filter. I have it on a seed-warming mat so it stays a constant 78 degrees. I currently feed him freeze-dried bloodworms twice a day. I do a 100% water change daily right now, and add API Stress Coat. I keep the pH at a little less than 7. I've had him for about 10 months, so he's at least that old. He had tail rot about 8 months ago.
He got popeye in early November, and got tail rot with it. I used Bettafix (which I now is strongly recommended against), and it got rid of the tail rot, but not the popeye. I then tried Maracide, with no success. Now I'm adding epsom salts and Tetra Lifeguard all-in-one treatment. It's been two weeks, and now his belly is bloated, and his eye is worse. His behavior has been normal, ever since I flexed the tail rot. He seems perfectly happy.
I love Timmy very much. I have no idea what to do. I'm getting so desperate. Please, if you have any idea what I should do, I would much appreciate it.
