when did Betta's become a Non-community fish? What did I miss.
Hi everyone I'm a newbie to this forum.
In the 70's (yes I dated myself) 1 male Betta could be kept, along w/betta female's in a community tank.
Added interest and beautiful color to your tank.
I added 1 male and he wanted to beat up the whole community. I returned to lfs, and was told quite curtly
"betta's are not community fish" they are solatary (sp) fish.
Oh these poor fish kept in small cottage cheese style contaniner's I think it's abuse!!
Marketing ploy's have changed I just noticed we now have a whole ailse dedicated to the Betta.Wow!

It really depends on the betta 's personality. Some do fine with tank mates and others don't. IMO they do better living alone because they are solitary fish.
