Hello experienced betta keepers

I have finished my shopping list for items that I will buy for my future princess based on lots of reading in this forum

So I think I got the right idea but wanted to know what you guys think. I will be getting these sometime next week and I guess I am a little paranoid to make sure I get the best for my princess

Shopping List: (prices are for me so I can remember them lol)
  • Top FinŽ 10 Gallon Glass Aquarium - $14
  • Aquaclear 20 Filter - $23
  • Fluval M50 Heater - $27
  • Top FinŽ Starry Night Aquarium Gravel - $5
  • Live Plants - $??? Haven’t looked into it yet but I will definitely want live plants
  • TetraŽ AquaSafeŽ Water Conditioner tablets - $4
  • Mardel 5-in-1 Test Strips - $22
  • Top FinŽ Brine Shrimp Nets - $3
  • Omega One Betta Buffet Pellets - $4
  • Top FinŽ Color Enhancing Betta Bits - $2
  • Omega One Freeze Dried Blood Worms Nutri-Treat - $7
  • Hikari Bio-Pure Food Brine Shrimp - $9

Thanks in advance for any input!!

Shopping List: (prices are for me so I can remember them lol)
  • Top FinŽ 10 Gallon Glass Aquarium - $14 + Hood & Light
  • Aquaclear 20 Filter - $23
  • Fluval M50 Heater - $27
  • Top FinŽ Starry Night Aquarium Gravel - $5
  • Live Plants - $??? Haven’t looked into it yet but I will definitely want live plants If you want live plants, I recommend getting a different type of substrate
  • TetraŽ AquaSafeŽ Water Conditioner tablets - $4 I recommend small bottle of Seachem Prime ( 1.7 fl oz )
  • Mardel 5-in-1 Test Strips - $22 Get API master test kit ( liquid ) instead of those test strips
  • Top FinŽ Brine Shrimp Nets - $3
  • Omega One Betta Buffet Pellets - $4
  • Top FinŽ Color Enhancing Betta Bits - $2 Omega one is a better quality food when compared to top fin - thus, there's no need to get this
  • Omega One Freeze Dried Blood Worms Nutri-Treat - $7 If possible, get hikari frozen ( not freeze dried ) bloodworms instead
  • Hikari Bio-Pure Food Brine Shrimp - $9 If possible, get hikari frozen brine shrimp instead
  • Zoo Med Floating Betta Log - $11
  • Decorations - $?? Really depends on what I find

Thanks in advance for any input!!
My recommendations are in purple writing.

hello, just a few thought about your list and all this is just my opinion.
dont forget a hood and light, if you plan on live plants, which betta love, you'll need good lighting.also reagular gravel isnt the best for live plants, try eco-complete. I like frozen food over freeze dried. Test strips are really not very accurate, Get a API master test kit, runs about $30 but you get way more tests than a bottle of strips and is much more accurate. Take a old nylon stocking with you and any decorations you like try to run the nylon over them, if nylon snags then the bettas fins will snag and tear. dont get them. good luck

you seem very dedicated to giving your betta the best thats awesome! My only suggestions are:

-For your live plants go with anubias, bettas love them
-To cycle your tank in a day or two instead of 4-6 weeks, buy a bottle of Tetra SafeStart, the small bottle is enough for your 10g and runs $14. It will introduce good bacteria into your tank thereby safeguarding it from dangerous ammonia.

Good luck!

You guys are so awesome! That's a good idea with the nylon stocking I will defenitelly bring it with me.

Also does a regular pet store carry the hikari frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp?

I heard that bettas can get bored with the same ol food so I want to have a variety for her.

Ok anubias and tetra safestart are added to my list

Yeah I don't know why I forgot the hood and lighting becasue bettas are known for jumping!!

Thank you thank you thank you!

I noticed that you're getting a couple of top fin products; so I'm guessing that you're buying majority - if not all the stuff from petsmart... therefore, yes, petsmart do carry frozen hikari products in their freezer. :)
