Live Plants most people recommend water lettuce, anichris... i was unable to find those despite having several places to look. I used Wisteria and a Marimo moss ball.

Live food for Pair (once ML hatch, that will be crossed off) I've had no problems hatching bbs, the babies seem to like it. Also grindal worms if you can get them. i had some wild in my tank but the babies have eaten them all.

I will look for the Grindals.
I wont be breeding till spring, and i gorge all of my bettas on masqeeto larve, so they will be fat and happy for the spawn. :)

And just any old MS? more then one?

Water wisteria and cabomba and water sprite all work great as plants 'cause they float and have lots of leaves for the infusoria to grow in (also for the fry/female to hide in).

Sorry, I have no clue what APR powder is. o.O But I would say yes, you need a sponge filter for grow out. The sponge is great for cultivating infusoria so the fry would have little snacks.

and if im planning to breed about april, Should i set up the tank in march?

You can. I think some people don't set it up until a week before. Mostly, you just want the sponge filter to have some bacteria and stuff on it. You can put it in an established tank for a while and let it cycle.
