Clamped Caudal Fin

My new female betta is keeping her caudal fin clamped. Its only that fin. I thought at first that she might just be stressed but it's been days now and shes only unclamped it a tiny bit (or that could be my imagination). Now I'm worried. Is there anything I can do for her?

She is still in her cup that I bought her in but its floating in a heated 10g. temp is about 76. I change her water every other day.

Also I was planning on releasing all my girls into my new sorority tomorrow. Will she be okay to go in or should I wait until her fin unclamps?

You could try raising the temperature a little, to 78 or 80 degrees. Sometimes they can get chilly.

I only have a preset heater so I can't adjust the temp. I do plan on getting an adjustable one eventually but I can't afford it at the moment.

The tank was at 80 degrees the other day though and she still stayed clamped.
Is there another reason maybe?

I'm going to say she's still stressed. In a cup like that, there is nowhere for her to hide. Do you have any java moss? Sticking a little in to the cup may give her a feeling of more security.

I don't have any java moss. I've looked and haven't found any in any nearby pet stores. :/ I do have a small java fern that I put in with her. She hid in it right away. Thanks for the suggestion! I hope she can relax now.

I'm planning on putting all the girls in the tank tomorrow afternoon. There are a lot of places for her to hide in there. Hopefully she will be okay then.
