Is this really a male?

I just saw this little fish on AB: http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/aucti...sct&1329319814. It is labelled as a male, but either he is constipated in a major way or that's really a female. What's the concencus?

I think some breeders feed their fish up before a photoshoot to make them more active and aggressive. I know most of my males enjoy strutting their stuff after a good meal (or in the case of this fish, two or three).

On the contrary, a full bellied betta will be lazier/less aggressive than a hungry betta. We Asians often feed our bettas "full", specially if they're young or still growing. And this is more tolerable when feeding daphnia or ML. But wormy foods aren't advised because the bettas will become "fat" when they've reached a certain size which is undesired, specially the females (might block their egg passage).

also, don't forget that CTs are slimmer in the body, than others. a full CT will look way bigger in the belly, than a full VT or HM. :V
