Not sure if my betta is sick. :(

This is Frankenstein, he's sort of a rescue fish. He was bought as a decoration for the office I work in and he made it through a horrible tiny tank, over feeding, and under cleaning. I quite literally stole him about a month ago because I knew he wouldn't survive much longer. He lives now in a 2.5 galloon tank that is heated, well planted, and with treated water and I believed he was thriving. In the past week it looks to me like one of his fins has ripped, a clean rip and he's swimming well still, and his coloring is changing a bit. There are white spots, but they don't look like the other ones I've seen here.

Questions? Suggestions? This little guy has been through a lot and I just want to make sure he's taken care of.

Coloring can change wit proper nutrition and good conditions. It really isn't something to worry about unless it's a patch that has changed colors or if it looks to be a sickly color.

As far as the rip, he could have just ripped it on a decoration or from flaring. Either way, keep a close eye on him to make sure no infection starts and try bumping up the water changes to 1 50% and 1 100% change weekly. Clean water is often the best remedy for any illness and the best preventative step.
