Meet Speck!!! *PICS!!!*

Hey all,

I just got my very own betta!!! As you may know, I am currently babysitting Boo, but I wanted one of my own.

I had TOO good of an experience at PetSmart. If my parents wouldn't have killed me, I would have brought home at least two!!! They had some beautiful VTs and Dragonscales (DS?) but the winner was a tiny male "halfmoon"!

Meet Speck, who I've named for the white freckles on his face and along his spine. I do believe it is just his coloring, because it is flat and not fuzzy!!!

Anyhoooo...SPECK! (and a nice one of Boo as well!)

Any idea on color and if he is a true HM? How long's it going to take for the tail and fins to show?

And if anyone has any idea about Boo's actual color, let me know!

Speck's a cutiepie! I'd say he's a multicolour, and is still a baby.

As for Boo ... maybe a pastel or gold? It really depends on what colours he shines under bright, indirect light. Really lovely guy! Ohhh .... I looked at him again and he might also be a marble. Betta colours can be complicated, lol

Thanks...and I was thinking he might be a baby also. He's really a rambunctious little fella!!! I can't wait to see what his fins look like. Any idea on how long it takes them to grow their fins?

I love him! I know I picked the right one!

Uhh just wondering...I saw a picture of a fish that someone posted on here that looked a lot like Speck, fins and all, but was female. Could he be...a she?

Pretty long anal fin for a female, but it's possible. Of course if he's very young, it just might take time for his fins to grow out. Any idea how old he is?

Unfortunately no. I don't have the knowledge to tell by looking at him what his age might be, and the people of PetSmart could only shrug. I just assumed he was a baby boy (since his cup said Male), in need of some TLC.

I guess time will tell?

Talking Update!!! Pic heavy!!!

Rather than start a new thread entirely, I thought I'd share some new pics of Speck here!! He's turned out red, not quite so red as in these pictures though, because the lamp in my dorm room has 3 pink lamp shades that make everything have a reddish hue. His body is a really light red, and his fins are darker, although the edges of the fins are completely transparent. I don't know if that means he'll get color there or what. He still has the cute little specks on his face for which he was originally named, but he will NOT hold still long enough to get a good head shot. I LOVE his white chin, so that's what the last two pictures are of! I'm thinking he's definitely not HM though...sillly PetSmart

Any thoughts on his type based on these pics?

Oh yea, and he's still pretty small in my opinion, although he has probably grown some. It's hard to tell. I think he must just be a small adult, because there weren't any babies when I got him. Then again I guess he could still be growing. I've got no idea how old he was when I got him, and I purchased him shortly after Christmas.
