Spontaneous Betta Death?

I had four females in a sorority spontaneously die today. I haven't had much time to investigate the tank, but it looks ok... One was mopey about a week ago but she was being picked on by the other three, so I put her in a breeders net. Then everyone died today. Also weird, only one is floating. No one is bloated, or has torn fins, or anything. I'm baffled!

be careful before throwing them out, one time, my betta was upside down "dead" even after i poked him a couple of times. Then the next day, he was swimming happily like nothing happened

Don't worry, they were quite dead. Glassy eyes, not moving, dead. I didn't take them out til the next day because I noticed just as I was going to bed, and there were no live fish being harmed

Sorry to hear you lose your girls..

I would do a large water change, as leaving a dead fish in the tank is just leaching out chemicals that are dangerous and deadly to other fish.. so a few large changes over the course of a few days would be good.

More info would help in trying to figure out what happened to prevent it from happening in the futures..

Size of tank?
Temp of tank?
Water change schedule and the %?
What chemicals are you placing in the tank?
Did you add in anything new to the tank, whether it be plant or decoration close to the time of death?
Was soap used on any item that went into the tank?
Was anything sprayed in the air right before it happened?

They all died, so I didn't exactly need to do a water change. And apparently my little brother was put in charge of spraying air freshener last night and went crazy. Luckily my two tanks with males were ok. I think that's what did it. They were all dead...
