I know. I actually stopped a woman who was getting her kid a betta for her birthday one day. She grabbed a vase and I told her it'd die or just lay around depressed if she didn't at least get the one gallon tank they had right next to it.

She seemed a bit unhappy at first but got the tank instead and thanked me for letting her know.

its amazing how little research people do. i didnt do much before i got mine but i did enough i think. i was telling my friends at school about my betta and mentioned the water temp was at 78 and they freaked out saying i would kill him. when ive done my research and found that everywhere says thats the minimum temp

I know. I had mine at 80 and my mom came by and freaked out saying I was cooking them.
