Opportunities! Which one? Upgrade?

So my goldfish finally have a good home. Now the question: what to do with the extra ten gallon? Currently i have a ten gallon planted sorority, an empty ten gallon that used to hold two large goldfish, and a planted 55gal community with 5 betta girls.
Here is what i was thinking:
move the goldfish ten into storage, get a 20gal long or a 30 gallon and expand the sorority
-pros: i can move the girls from the 55gal into the new sorority tank, and then get glass catfish for the 55gal. then move the second ten gal to storage and just have the 55gal and the 20 long/30 gal. Also, they only make plant friendly lights in 18 inches and up, so i can also upgrade the lighting.
-cons: moving the sorority is going to be a GIANT pain due to the plants and shrimp.
Or
turn the extra ten gal into a nano tank, with tiny fish/shrimp.
-pros: this something i have always wanted to to do.
-cons: If i do this its going to be a planted tank and they don't make plant friendly lights for anything smaller then a 20 gallon (or 18 inch lights)
Or
Turn the ten gallon into a divided space for a couple males.
Pros: i get to get a couple males
Cons: i have limited space for the males, and couldn't do the planted tank i want with adequate lighting.

On a more serious note, I'd do a combination of the divided and nano. I'd plant it up with low-light plants (which can still look stunning when done well) and fill it with red cherry shrimp, then get a betta whose colours really complimented the scape. I'm not sure how well a divided tank would work with this, but eh. If you didn't divide it, I'd do one male betta and 3-6 male Endlers as well as the shrimp.

Thanks for the link! The hoods i have on both my ten gallon tanks require 12" florescent bulbs, and the florasun bulbs minimum size is 18".

Though, i could still upgrade to a 20 long and keep it nano!

I do like the idea of getting a male betta, since i don't have one. My hesitation is if i did do a nano tank i would be concerned about the male being too aggressive with the other fish/shrimp. If he was i don't have any where else i could keep him.

If its only divided into 2 get a male on oneside and female on the other.

Unfortunately you never know how a betta, male or female, will handle tank mates of any kind. I've got a divided 10G, I think looks nice (it's in my albums).

I so understand what you are saying about the lighting. I went with an LED setup, not the best, but my plants aren't overly demanding for their light requirements.
