Lightbulb thoughts, plans, and ideas for my 29 gallon tank!

i think its technically called a "29 gallon high," but i'm not sure. dimensions are 18inx12inx30in
all i know is that its 29 gallons :)
i dont have a lot of space for tanks, but i have a spot for this tank. i'd really like a sorority community, along with extra space for the 2 boys i have already. i plan to cycle the tank no matter how i end up putting it to use.
SO. first big idea:
i was thinking i could divide two, two gallon areas on either end for my males, and then have a sorority in the 25 gallons in the middle, possibly with some panda corys in there as well, and red cherry or ghost shrimp.

i have more questions to come about the best possible filters/heaters as well :D

For a tall tank, I would add a few onion plants... they are super nice and soooo tall.
One if the plants in my sorority currently had leaves over 2 feet long.

For such a large tank you should get a variety of different sized plants, of course which ones will depend on your lighting and aquascaping preference.

great, thanks! i will look for onion plants.

what do you think of my dividing idea? should i make their sections bigger, like 2.5gal or 3gal? could i still have a sorority/community in the middle?

I dont like the idea of dividing a 29 gallon tall, at all. bettas love long tanks, and i dont think a sorority, and 2 males can fit in there nicely

okay, now i see the problems with having them all in one tank. back to the drawing board!

it'll probably just be a sorority community OR a community with one of the males in there. hmmm.

i'm tentatively going to say that it's going to be a community sorority. i'm looking at power filters and heaters. the AquaClear 30, Aqueon Quiet Flow 30, and the Fluval C2 all caught my eye as potential filters. for heaters, the Fluval Submersible 100 watt and the Aqueon Pro 100 watt look good. anyone have reccomendations?

I would say go with the sorority community. Get about 5 nice females, 3-5 cory cats, and a few either smaller fish, or one or two medium fish that are social and non aggressive.
That would be my stocking suggestion personally. I am sure others could give you more detailed and better options than I.

what do you like better about Aqueon, PhilipPhish?

Amph- it looks like platies or tetras are popular options for smaller schooling fish, right? what would you suggest for the 1-2 medium, social fish?

I like the aqueon brand because i've never had any trouble with the products and they seem more dependable than some other products i've heard of.

Also, if you need help with the sorority, i'd be more than happy to help!
