Hello,

I used to have fish, but got out of the hobby several years ago. Recently, after loosing my 11yr old dog to cancer, I decided I couldn't get another dog right now since I haven't been feeling well, so I thought I would try a fish.

I got "Arthur" just over a week ago, and he's a trip; very active and eager to eat. (I'm being good and he only gets 1-2 pellets at a time, maybe twice a day.)

I started with an unfiltered Pet Keeper with a heater, and then I decided that I wanted something better for my little guy, with a lot more room!

So I've set up a 5.5 gallon with a small filter, heater, and several plants and will move him over when I'm comfortable that the new tank is ready. I'm also toying with the idea of eventually adding an African Dwarf Frog and/or some Cherry Shrimp.

I've attached some pictures of Arthur (in the first one he was flying around his home so his top/bottom fins weren't completely open like they are when he stops.) I got him at Petco, where he was labeled as a "Half Moon Plakat", but he almost looks like some sort of Double Tail to my untrained eye, although the two lobes of his tail are incompletely split. I'd love to hear some opinions on just what variety he is, but whatever he is, I think he's beautiful.

Looking forward to learning more about these neat little fish.

Jill (and Arthur!)
